This course is designed to help managers and leaders better understand the causes and dynamics of postnormal times, according to Sardar, the “in-between period, where old orthodoxies are dying, new ones have yet to be born and few things make sense.” We live in a transitional period, potentially on the cusp of a new episteme, paradigm, or worldview. Postnormal times are characterized by the acceleration of change, uncertainty, and fragmentation. The course will help untangle these types of change, consequences, and suggest creative strategies for senior public administrators and policymakers to navigate postnormal times.
