Systems, Leadership, and Foresight

This course aims to offer intermediate professional training and studying in the field of futures research with a focus on the interplay between general systems, leadership principles, and foresight. This course is structured on four inter-related sections.

Course Objectives

  • Identify the interconnections of systems and sub-systems within the organization
  • Consider how the organization is situated as a sub-system within the overall government structure as well as the implications on subordinate systems
  • Consider how feedback loops and communication barriers impact organizational structure, function, and processes
  • Examine organizational culture
  • Identify leadership principles that strengthen or threaten the organization’s future
  • Conceptualize emerging issues and envision how the organizational designs that meet future demands
