Dr. Schultz has been engaged in futures research and participatory foresight across the world for over forty years. She has designed interactive futures processes for NGOs, government agencies, and businesses, and produced major foresight research projects such as a recent EU effort to create four global scenarios and multiple regional scenarios on the futures of research and innovation in a post-COVID world. Wendy specializes in participatory futures workshops – most recently online for a Fortune 500 pharmaceutical company; a Fortune 500 food company; the Deep Transitions Futures project; the UK Law Society; the ILO; and the International Institute of Islamic Thought. Other examples include face-to-face workshops offering foresight training in Kuala Lumpur and Istanbul; and with the Geneva Centre for Security Policy in Bangkok, New York, and Geneva. She has written foresight training and guidance materials for the US State Justice Institute, the UK Financial Conduct Authority, the ILO, and the WHO.
Wendy currently teaches futures studies in the Masters Program in Strategic Foresight at the University of Houston, providing both the Intro to Futures Studies and Foresight seminar and the Intro to Systems Thinking seminar. She has also lectured in futures studies at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, and while on a Fulbright at the Finnish Futures Research Center in the University of Turku.
She is a Fellow of the Geneva Centre for Security Policy, for whom she regularly provides foresight training; a Senior Fellow of the Center for Post-Normal Policy and Futures Studies; a member of the Association of Professional Futurists; a Fellow of the World Futures Studies Federation; and a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures, and Commerce. She is Director of Infinite Futures and Futures Puzzlemaster at Jigsaw Foresight.
