Press Release: American University’s Office of Graduate and Professional Studies Launches New Non-Credit Program to Prepare Future Leaders

The Strategic Foresight Leadership in Public Service program will help public sector leaders tackle unique challenges beyond forecasting.

WASHINGTON, D.C (June 4, 2024) – American University’s Office of Graduate and Professional Studies announced today that it will be partnering with DMS International to add a new non-credit program to its growing list of unique educational offerings for lifelong learners. The Strategic Foresight Leadership in Public Service program is designed for public sector leaders who want to understand, identify, and plan for the future in today’s ever-changing world.

“We are excited to partner with DMS International on such an important program focused on strategy and planning,” said Wendy Boland, dean of Graduate and Professional Studies. “The last few years have only emphasized our need to plan for the future and utilize our resources to best serve our communities and the marketplace.”

Recognizing the rapidly changing technological landscape coupled with global complexities, the Office of Graduate and Professional Studies partnered to offer this program with DMS International, a woman owned small business with more than a decade of experience providing innovative learning solutions with a special focus on the federal space.

“This program is centered on developing a forward-thinking mindset, a sense of purpose, and a culture of innovation, resulting in a comprehensive leadership framework adapted for the modern era,” said Magdalah Silva, president and CEO of DMS International.

Built with a holistic approach, the Strategic Foresight Leadership in Public Service program embraces multiple schools of thought, strategic concepts, and methodology to offer the most complete and comprehensive models available. This offering has direct alignment with federal leadership competencies and executive development program requirements, so participants will gain important skills to prepare them to lead for whatever the future holds.

This program joins a growing catalog of offerings in the Office of Graduate and Professional Studies that aim to upskill or reskill participants at different points in their careers. Created with the professional in mind, these programs offer job-ready skills from day one and are paced to accommodate working schedules.

The Office of Graduate and Professional Studies and DMS will hold an online information session at 12 p.m. Eastern on June 18 .
